| Dear
Valued Client, |
| |
| International
Standard for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM15) guide for regulatory wood and
wood packaging in International Trade. |
| |
| The
United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) Interim Commission on
Phytosanitary Measures adopted ISPM15 in March 2002. This means that countries can now decide to
implement these Internationally recognized import regulations to prevent the
spread of wood pests. |
| |
| The
new International mark has been agreed and trademarked and is now authorized
for use (as illustrated). |
|
| |
| |
| The
approved treatments for wood packaging material are: |
| |
| Heat
treatment (HT) to a minimum core temperature of 56deg C for a minimum of
30minutes |
| Fumigation,
using Methyl Bromide (MB) to the prescribed dosage and temperature. |
| |
| To
certify treatment the WPM must be marked with the above International Plant
Protection Convention (IPPC) Logo.
Paper certificates of treatment will no longer be required or
accepted. |
| |
| The
logo represents the official IPPC Logo, a 2 letter country code (xx), a
unique number (000) assigned by the National Plant Protection Organisation
(NPPO), HT for Heat Treatment or MB for Methyl Bromide and DB to signify
debarked. |
| |
| The
counties listed below have implemented the ISPM15 requirements: |
| |
| USA |
| Canada |
| Mexico |
| Central
& South America |
| South
Africa |
| Europe |
| Australia |
| New
Zealand |
| South
Korea |
| Malaysia |
| Philippines |
| |
| It is
the responsibility of the shipper to ensure that any timber used in their
packaging is compliant with the ISPM15 regulations. Please note that we will
be requesting all clients to complete a declaration clarifying compliance
with the new regulations especially for exports to the USA, Mexico and Canada
where they have now been made mandatory as per our notifications distributed
previously. |
| |
| Our
packing facility Patrick Logistics will be offering/providing fumigation or
re-palletisation of cargo to the ISPM15 compliant pallets from end of
September 05 (to be confirmed). We
have however attached a list of compliant treatment providers in Australia
for your convenience. Once Patricks
confirm they have the accreditation we will advise our clients accordingly of
timeframes and pricing |
